Objectives:
To develop innovative AI solutions for addressing cybersecurity threats like DDoS, intrusion detection, and network anomalies.
To mentor researchers and students in network security, guiding them through cutting-edge research and publication processes.
To publish high-impact research in leading journals, focussing on Q1/Q2 Scopus and WoS indexed publications.
Team Structure:
The research hub will be divided into three groups, each consisting of 3 people, including a group leader for each team. Group leaders will communicate directly with the Lab Leader to ensure streamlined collaboration and project updates.
Lab Leader: Abdinasir Hirsi, PhD Scholar in Electrical Engineering, UTHM University: The Lab Leader oversees all research activities across the three groups, provides strategic guidance, mentors group leaders, and ensures that each group is meeting its research objectives and publication goals. The Lab Leader also facilitates collaborations with external partners and manages the publication process for Q1/Q2 Scopus and WoS journals.
Group Leader: The Group Leader manages Group 1โs tasks, coordinates research activities, and ensures the groupโs progress aligns with the overall goals of the research hub. The leader will communicate with the Lab Leader, providing regular updates and seeking support when needed.
Second Member: Responsible for assisting in research tasks such as AI model development, data analysis, and contributing to research publications. This member will collaborate closely with the Group Leader and other team members.
Third Member: Contributes to coding, data collection, and writing parts of the groupโs research output. This member works under the direction of the Group Leader and collaborates on experiments and simulations.
Requirements for Joining:
Academic Background: Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or cybersecurity.
Strong interest in AI/ML and network security.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and network security tools (e.g., Wireshark, Snort).
Experience in data analysis, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
Financial Requirement:
Each student member will contribute $5 per month to cover publication fees.
Soft Skills:
Effective communication and collaboration skills for remote work.
ย Ability to work independently and contribute to group tasks.
Responsibilities:
Lab Leader: Oversee the entire research hub, mentor group leaders, and guide research and publication efforts.
Group Leaders: Manage their respective groups, coordinate research tasks, and ensure communication with the Lab Leader.
